The San José Fire Department has announced the upcoming fifth-annual Women's+ Boot Camp scheduled for May 18, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the new San José Fire Training Center. The event aims to provide an opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the fire service to gain insights and participate in a judgement-free workout and information session.

The Women's+ Boot Camp is inclusive, as stated by the organizers, "open to all adults (18+), including our non-binary, gender non-conforming, and trans women community members, who are looking to make a positive change in their career." Attendees will have the chance to engage in various activities, including a circuit training workout, listening to SJFD female firefighters sharing their personal experiences in the fire service, participating in a Q&A session with the women of SJFD, and witnessing demonstrations featuring firefighting tools and equipment.

Registration for the event is required, with limited space available for 75 participants. The registration process opens on April 18, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. via Eventbrite. Organizers emphasize the importance of timely registration due to the event's popularity in the past. Additionally, participants are informed that completion of a 'Waiver of Liability' form and a 'Photo/Video Release' form will be mandatory on the day of the event.

In terms of logistics, the organizers will provide water and snacks for attendees, who are advised to wear comfortable athletic apparel and proper shoes. For any inquiries or concerns regarding the event, individuals are encouraged to reach out via email at SJFDRecruiting@sanjoseca.gov.

The Women's+ Boot Camp offers a valuable opportunity for those considering a career in the fire service to gain practical insights, engage with experienced firefighters, and participate in a supportive and informative environment.
