Alex Nedeljkovic has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the San Jose Sharks, valued at $6 million. The deal, which carries an average annual value of $3 million, will start next season.
Nedeljkovic, 30, was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 before reaching this agreement with the Sharks. This season, he has appeared in 26 games (21 starts) for San Jose and holds a record of 11-9-2. He has posted a goals-against average of 2.83 and a .902 save percentage.
Originally drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes as the No. 37 overall pick in the second round of the 2014 NHL Draft, Nedeljkovic has played for several teams during his career: the Hurricanes, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, and now the Sharks. Over 205 regular-season games (181 starts), he has recorded an 85-69-29 record with a 2.97 GAA, .903 save percentage, and nine shutouts. In playoff competition—all with Carolina in 2021—he is 4-5 with a 2.17 GAA, .920 save percentage, and one shutout.
San Jose currently holds a record of 30-25-4 and is three points behind the Seattle Kraken for the final wild card spot in the Western Conference playoffs race. The team will host the St. Louis Blues on Friday at home.
