Darcy Spark leads San José State in scoring at Aztec Invitational

San José State women’s water polo team competed in two matches at the Aztec Invitational on March 15, with Darcy Spark leading the Spartans in scoring. The team played against No. 12 Harvard and No. 16 UC San Diego.

The matches were significant for the Spartans as they faced higher-ranked opponents, providing an opportunity to test their skills and teamwork ahead of upcoming games.

In the first match, Spark scored twice as San José State fell to Harvard, 13-4. Her goals came in the second and fourth quarters. Sarah Woren gave the Spartans an early lead with a penalty shot, while Sienna Cimoli added a goal in the fourth quarter. Goalie Tatianna Raffin made seven saves during the game.

The second match saw a close contest against UC San Diego, where Spark scored six goals despite the team’s narrow 13-12 loss. Bridget Cranley contributed two goals, while Woren, Jennine Osorio, Mackenzy Clark, and Rose Jensen each scored once. Raffin recorded ten saves in goal.

Looking ahead, San José State will host No. 9 Indiana on Friday, March 20 at 1 p.m., inside the SRAC.
