The San José State men’s golf team finished play at The Desimone Invitational on March 10, led by Keshav “KC” Mungali’s strong performance at Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City, California. Mungali posted an even-par 72 in the final round, ending the tournament at 7-under par and securing an 11th-place individual finish. The Spartans placed 11th as a team, finishing ahead of three ranked teams.

Mungali’s tournament total was anchored by four birdies in his final round, contributing to a score of 209 over three days. Ivan Barahona tied for 28th place with a total score of 214 after shooting a five-over-par 77 in the last round. Avinash Iyer finished in 37th place with an even-par total of 216, carding a three-over-par 75 on Tuesday.

Jed Dy improved his standing during the final day with a one-over-par 73 that included three birdies, finishing tied for 65th place at six-over-par for the event. Xuan Luo completed the tournament tied for 80th place after posting a seven-over-par round to finish at eleven-over overall.

The Spartans’ combined team score was four-under-par (860) across all rounds of play. Their performance allowed them to surpass several higher-ranked opponents during the competition.

Looking ahead, San José State will compete next at The Duck Invitational on March 23 and 24 at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon.
