The Mountain West Conference announced on Mar. 9 the official football schedule for the 2026 season, featuring seven home games and a notable regular-season finale for San José State University.
The release of the schedule is significant as it marks only the second time since 2006 that the Spartans will host seven games at CEFCU Stadium, offering fans more opportunities to support their team at home. The extended slate also includes a total of 13 regular-season games, which has not occurred since 2017.
Jeff Konya, SJSU Director of Athletics, said, “Our 2026 schedule is a significant win for our fans and the San Jose community. Securing seven home games—a rarity in our program’s history—provides an incredible platform for our student-athletes to compete in front of a home crowd. By balancing a 13-game slate with a marquee finale against a program of North Dakota State’s caliber, we have a schedule that is both challenging and rewarding for Spartan Nation.”
Key highlights include opening Mountain West play on Oct. 3 against Hawai‘i in Honolulu and closing out the regular season with a non-conference matchup at home against new conference addition North Dakota State University (NDSU). Other notable changes involve moving the game at Eastern Michigan to Friday, Sept. 4, and canceling the previously announced series with Jax State.
The Spartans’ season begins in Week Zero on Aug. 29 at USC and features matchups against Cal Poly, Fresno State, Wyoming, UTEP, Nevada, New Mexico, Northern Illinois (NIU), Air Force, UNLV, and NDSU. The spring game is scheduled for April 18 at CEFCU Stadium and will be free to attend.
Television broadcast details and exact game times are yet to be announced. Dates remain subject to change as further updates are provided by the conference.
