Zoe Lofgren, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 18th district, has recently taken to social media to express her concerns and highlight important issues. Her focus spans across healthcare, law enforcement recognition, and agricultural workforce stability.
On May 14, 2025, Lofgren shared her meeting with the Rural Counties and Supervisor Lopez discussing the significance of Medicaid for labor, delivery, and rural healthcare. She expressed concern over Republican-proposed Medicaid cuts which she states could increase the number of uninsured individuals by at least 8.6 million. “Hospital associations are agreed,” she emphasized.
The following day on May 15, Lofgren highlighted the heroism of police officers who played a crucial role in protecting democracy and her life. She called for public recognition through a plaque honoring their efforts and sacrifices.
Later that same day, Lofgren spoke about her conversation with Western Growers, an organization representing farm workers across America. Amid ongoing economic instability, she stressed the need for providing stability to this vital workforce.
Lofgren has been serving in Congress since 1995 after succeeding Don Edwards. Before her tenure in Congress, she was part of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors from 1981 to 1994. Born in San Mateo in 1947 and currently residing in San Jose, Lofgren holds degrees from Stanford University and Santa Clara University School of Law.
