Rep. Zoe Lofgren, who has represented California’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress since 1995, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing local infrastructure funding, law enforcement actions, and foreign policy.
On January 7, 2026, Lofgren announced new funding for her district: “I’m proud to announce that #CA18 recently secured over $8.6 million for road safety improvements in our communities! I voted for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and thanks to that bill signed by President Biden, we’re making our roads safer for all Californians.”
Later that day, she commented on an incident involving federal law enforcement: “An ICE agent shot and killed a U.S. citizen in Minneapolis today. My heart breaks for the victim’s family.
This kind of avoidable tragedy is what happens when Donald Trump sends armed, masked, and often untrained agents into our communities. His lawless army must be reined in.”
On January 8, Lofgren addressed foreign policy concerns: “I voted against the war in Iraq, and I’m against Trump sending our sons and daughters to fight another endless war for oil.
He needs to get his mind off Venezuela and Greenland and start addressing his failures here at home.”
Lofgren has served as the representative for California’s 18th District since succeeding Don Edwards in 1995 and previously held office on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors from 1981 to 1994. Born in San Mateo in 1947 and currently residing in San Jose at age 75, she holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
