Rep. Zoe Lofgren, who has represented California’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress since 1995, addressed several key issues in a series of posts on her official social media account this week.
On December 8, Lofgren criticized former President Donald Trump’s trade policies, writing, “Trump’s trade war is killing small businesses. His Republican allies in Congress know this and aren’t stopping him.”
Later that day, she highlighted her engagement with local organizations in San Jose: “I had a wonderful meeting with @SJAACSA last week to discuss all the services they provide and tour their Family Resource Center. Their educational, social, and recreational programs are an important part of fostering a strong and inclusive San Jose.” The SJAACSA refers to the Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI), which provides various support services to residents.
On December 9, Lofgren thanked constituents for participating in her recent tele-town hall: “Thanks to the 5,600+ Californians who hopped on my tele-town hall on Sunday, where I took questions on the biggest issues facing #CA18, from healthcare to affordability. Listen here:”
Lofgren has served as a member of Congress since succeeding Don Edwards in 1995. Prior to her congressional tenure, she was a member of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors from 1981 to 1994. Born in San Mateo in 1947 and currently residing in San Jose at age 75, Lofgren holds degrees from Stanford University and Santa Clara University School of Law.
