Rep. Zoe Lofgren, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 18th district since 1995, recently used her social media platform to comment on economic inequality, congressional priorities, and local events in San Jose.
On February 4, 2026, Lofgren addressed the issue of wealth disparity in the United States. She stated: “Wealth inequality is now the worst it’s been in 60 YEARS. Republicans gave huge tax cuts to the rich in their Big Ugly Bill, but the rest of America is getting crushed by Trump’s tariffs and policies. When are they going to stand up for regular Americans?”
The following day, on February 5, she criticized the focus of Republican-led hearings within the House Judiciary Committee: “You know how many hearings Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee have had this Congress about free speech in Europe? Three. How many hearings have they held to question DHS officials about their agents brutalizing Americans? Zero.”
Later that same day, Lofgren welcomed visitors arriving for Super Bowl LX in San Jose: “Tens of thousands of folks will be visiting San Jose this weekend for #SuperBowlLX. Whether you’re a Seahawks fan, a Patriots fan, or a Bad Bunny fan, I hope you stay safe and take in all that our beautiful San Jose/Bay Area has to offer.”
Lofgren has represented California’s 18th District since succeeding Don Edwards in 1995 and previously served on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors from 1981 to 1994. Born in San Mateo in 1947 and currently residing in San Jose, she holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
