Rep. Zoe Lofgren, who represents California’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on her social media account addressing current political issues and criticizing members of the opposing party.
On December 15, 2025, Lofgren condemned remarks made by former President Donald Trump about filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife. In her post, she stated: “Rob Reiner was a beloved Californian who always used his platform to make the world better. Donald Trump making light of him and his wife’s murders is a new low for this petty, hateful man. His party needs to condemn this.”
Later that day, Lofgren commented on the legislative calendar and healthcare policy: “Congress has just 5 legislative days left in this year, and Republicans still don’t have a plan to extend ACA subsidies to lower Americans’ skyrocketing healthcare costs.” The following day, December 16, she reiterated her concern as time dwindled for legislative action: “Congress has just 4 legislative days left in this year, and Republicans still don’t have a plan to extend ACA subsidies to lower Americans’ skyrocketing healthcare costs.”
Lofgren has represented California’s 18th district since 1995 after succeeding Don Edwards. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she served on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors from 1981 to 1994. Born in San Mateo in 1947 and currently residing in San Jose, Lofgren earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford University in 1970 and received her law degree from Santa Clara University in 1975.
