Rep. Zoe Lofgren, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 18th district since 1995, has posted a series of statements on her official X account criticizing former President Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers over economic issues and healthcare policy.
On December 10, 2025, Lofgren wrote: “Almost half of Americans say the cost of living is the worst they can remember it being, including 37% of Trump voters. Trump is delusional if he thinks this is an A+++++ economy.”
Later that day, she continued her criticism with another post: “Trump thinks affordability is a hoax and that Americans crushed by his tariffs are being “dramatic”. When’s the last time this guy went to a grocery store???”
On December 11, 2025, Lofgren shifted focus to healthcare legislation, stating: “Congress has just 7 legislative days left in this year, and Republicans still don’t have a plan to extend ACA subsidies to lower Americans’ skyrocketing healthcare costs.”
Lofgren has represented California’s 18th District since succeeding Don Edwards in 1995. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she served on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors from 1981 to 1994. Born in San Mateo in 1947 and currently residing in San Jose, Lofgren holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
