Rep. Zoe Lofgren, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 18th district since 1995, has used her social media platform to criticize former President Donald Trump’s economic policies and highlight their impact on American families.
On January 20, 2026, Lofgren posted: “In every state across the country, families are paying more due to Trump’s tariffs and inflationary policies. It’s been a full year. House Republicans need to put a stop to Trump’s failed economic experiment.” On the same day, she directed followers to further information by posting: “Read the full Joint Economic Committee Report here: https://t.co/kVNB0cZnn0”.
Continuing her critique on January 21, 2026, Lofgren wrote: “In 2025, the average American family paid $310 more for groceries compared to 2024. Trump’s tone-deaf message to Americans: stop whining.”
Lofgren has represented California’s 18th District in Congress since succeeding Don Edwards in 1995. Before her tenure in Congress, she served on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors from 1981 to 1994. Born in San Mateo in 1947 and currently residing in San Jose, Lofgren holds a BA from Stanford University (1970) and a JD from Santa Clara University (1975).
