Rep. Zoe Lofgren, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 18th district since 1995, has used her social media platform to comment on recent political and economic developments.
On May 15, 2026, Lofgren posted: “The same week that inflation had its biggest jump in 3 years, Trump says he’s not thinking about Americans’ financial situation. How much longer will congressional Republicans enable his out of touch policies?”
Three days later, on May 18, she wrote: “Trump is trying to use your taxpayer dollars to create a fund that can be used to pay J6 insurrectionists, who stand ready to attack his adversaries again. He says we don’t have money for healthcare or childcare, but evidently we have money for his criminal friends.”
Later the same day, Lofgren addressed veterans’ healthcare services: “America’s veterans deserve safe, high-quality dialysis services. I’m urging the @DeptVetAffairs to meet with my office to discuss the dialysis industry’s chronic staffing shortage and the need to ensure VA contractors are providing safe environments for workers and our veterans.”
Lofgren has represented California’s 18th district in Congress since succeeding Don Edwards in 1995 and previously served on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors from 1981 to 1994. Born in San Mateo in 1947 and currently residing in San Jose, she holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
