Rep. Zoe Lofgren, who has represented California’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress since 1995, recently highlighted her legislative priorities and activities through a series of posts on social media.
On March 18, 2026, Lofgren posted about her engagement with local business leaders: “Great to speak with @SF_Chamber of Commerce leaders yesterday. In Congress, I’m working to strengthen the Bay Area’s competitiveness by improving access to housing, transportation, and other economic engines.”
Later that day, she addressed privacy concerns and ongoing legislative efforts regarding government surveillance: “This is exactly why Congress needs to pass the bipartisan Government Surveillance Reform Act that @RonWyden and I introduced last week. We must close the data broker loophole and prevent this invasion of Americans’ privacy.”
On March 19, 2026, Lofgren discussed her support for emergency preparedness funding: “Today, I signed the House Dems discharge petition to force a vote on funding FEMA, TSA, and the law-abiding parts of DHS without any blank check for ICE and CBP’s lawlessness. We need America to be prepared for emergencies and we need to pay our TSA agents.”
Lofgren has served in Congress since replacing Don Edwards in 1995. Before her tenure in Washington D.C., she was a member of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors from 1981 to 1994. Born in San Mateo in 1947 and currently residing in San Jose at age 75, Lofgren holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
