Rep. Zoe Lofgren, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 18th district since 1995, recently posted a series of updates on her social media account reflecting on civil rights history, educational outreach, and upcoming constituent engagement.
On December 5, 2025, Lofgren commemorated the anniversary of a significant event in American history: “Today marks 70 years since the Montgomery Bus Boycotts began, a critical moment for the Civil Rights Movement. We must continue the work of Rosa Parks and Dr. King by speaking out against injustice and fighting for a nation that’s free and fair for all.”
The following day, December 6, she shared details about her visit with students in East San Jose: “I had a great time meeting with students today at The Foundation for Hispanic Education in East San Jose. In Congress, I’m focused on ensuring every student gets the resources they need to reach their full potential.”
On December 7, Lofgren invited constituents to participate in an interactive session: “TOMORROW: Join me for a tele-town hall where I’ll answer questions about the biggest issues facing #CA18. Talk to you then!”
Lofgren has represented California’s 18th district since succeeding Don Edwards in 1995. Before her tenure in Congress, she served on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors from 1981 to 1994. Born in San Mateo in 1947 and currently residing in San Jose, Lofgren earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and later received her law degree from Santa Clara University.
