The Sharks Foundation announced on March 9 that its annual Sampling with the Sharks fundraiser, presented by Marsh McLennan Agency, raised more than $500,000 to support underserved youth and families across the Bay Area.

The event highlights the importance of community involvement in expanding access to education, wellness resources, and hockey for young people. The funds will be used for Community Assist Grants to local nonprofits, literacy initiatives like Reading is Cool, access to hockey opportunities, and wellness programs.

Held at Hayes Mansion in San Jose on February 21, the semiformal gathering brought together players, coaches, broadcasters, partners, and fans. Attendees enjoyed wine tastings from Northern California wineries such as Far Niente and Silver Oak, gourmet cuisine, and both silent and live auctions powered by Ticketmaster. Each guest received a Sharks-themed tasting glass and exclusive access to unique auction packages.

Kevin Brown, Executive Director of the Sharks Foundation and Head of Community Impact for Sharks Sports & Entertainment said: “Sampling with the Sharks is a powerful reminder of what happens when our community comes together around a shared purpose. Every glass raised and every bid placed helps expand access to education, wellness resources, and the game of hockey for young people across the Bay Area. We are incredibly grateful to our partners, players, and supporters who continue to make this impact possible.”

During dinner programming at the event, three Mission Moment speakers shared stories about how Foundation-supported programs have changed lives. One highlight was Special Olympics Northern California athlete Justin Voltaggio’s account of how inclusive hockey programs helped him find friendship.

Sponsors included presenting sponsor Marsh McLennan Agency; supporting sponsor SAP; auction sponsor Ticketmaster; as well as dinner sponsors Casino M8trix, Hotel De Anza, Joby Aviation; Alice Robertson; Andy and Heather Steingruebl; Laura & Rob Tsuk.
