For four nights during the current season at SAP Center, San Jose Sharks defensemen Vincent Desharnais and Nick Leddy have been hosting pediatric oncology patients and their families in a private suite. This initiative is in partnership with Jacob’s Heart Cancer Support Services, a nonprofit organization based in Santa Clara County that supports children with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as their parents and caregivers.

The selected families receive tickets to the game, parking, access to a catered suite, Sharks goodie bags featuring custom Desharnais and Leddy player cards, and an opportunity to meet both players after the game. Jacob’s Heart identifies which families attend each suite night, aiming to benefit those who may need support the most.

In addition to the personal connections made on game nights, the San Jose Sharks Foundation contributes by providing a $2,500 financial match for each event. This collaboration is designed to blend direct engagement from players with philanthropic assistance for pediatric cancer families.

Vincent Desharnais commented on his involvement: “It’s important to give more for them and for the community, and this opportunity is priceless.”
