San Jose Sharks trade Timothy Liljegren to Capitals for draft pick

The San Jose Sharks have traded defenseman Timothy Liljegren to the Washington Capitals in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick in 2026. The selection originally belonged to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Liljegren, age 26, recorded 11 points with one goal and ten assists over 43 games this season with San Jose. Since joining the Sharks from the Toronto Maple Leafs on October 30, 2024, he has totaled 28 points in 110 games. Over his NHL career, Liljegren has accumulated 93 points with 21 goals and 72 assists across 307 games.

He is a native of Kristianstad, Sweden, stands six-foot-one and weighs 200 pounds. Liljegren was drafted by Toronto as the seventeenth overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NHL Draft.

San Jose Sharks General Manager Mike Grier stated: “San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Mike Grier announced today that the club has acquired a fourth-round selection originally belonging to the Vegas Golden Knights from the Washington Capitals in exchange for defenseman Timothy Liljegren.”
