San José State University has announced the addition of 22 transfer players to its football roster for the 2026 spring season. The team also signed three new athletes on National Signing Day, according to head coach Ken Niumatalolo.
Among the 22 transfers, seven are from “power four” conferences and five are from Mountain West schools. In previous years, San José State had brought in 29 transfers in 2024 and 22 in 2025.
Four freshmen—Carson Clark, Devin Olmande, Daniel Rolovich, and Skylar Tiatia—graduated high school early and have already joined the Spartans for spring practices.
The annual spring game is scheduled for April 25 at CEFCU Stadium. Details about kickoff time and fan activities will be released later.
Head coach Ken Niumatalolo provided a list of incoming players with background information:
Jordan Anderson, a redshirt sophomore wide receiver from Inglewood, California, transferred after playing at Oregon State and Sac State. He was rated four stars by Rivals.com and On3 out of high school and recorded 24 receptions for 361 yards last season at Sac State.
Jackson Barton joins as a redshirt sophomore safety from Phoenix, Arizona. He played special teams at Nevada over two seasons after being rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports.
Isaiah Buxton is a redshirt sophomore cornerback from San Diego who appeared in nine games last season at San Diego State. He was rated as a high three-star athlete by several recruiting services.
Other notable transfers include Anthony Ivey (wide receiver from Penn State), Tyler Jacklich (running back with experience at Wyoming, Merced College, and West Virginia), Jerry McClure (wide receiver who played last season at San Diego State), Jayland McGlothen (defensive lineman named Second Team All-Big Sky in 2025 at Sac State), Dominique McKenzie (wide receiver from BYU), Brian Tapu (offensive lineman formerly recruited by Nebraska), Lavaka Taukeiaho (offensive lineman who played eight games last year at Oklahoma State), Pierce Walker (safety who started all games last year for Portland State), Jonathan Watts (safety with experience at Laney College and Idaho State), and Luke Weaver (quarterback who played five games for Hawai‘i in 2025).
Three new freshmen were signed on National Signing Day:
Auma Jennings is a defensive lineman from Long Beach’s Orange Lutheran High School. He was twice named All-CIF and made over 200 tackles during his varsity career.
Shane Kiley joins as a tight end out of San Clemente High School where he caught 47 passes for nearly 600 yards his senior year.
Viliami Lotoaniu is a linebacker from Liberty High School in Antioch. He earned First-Team All-League honors after recording seven sacks his senior year.
Further updates on the Spartans’ roster or spring game events will be shared by the university as they become available.
