San José State University’s athletic teams are preparing for a busy week of competitions across several sports, following mixed results in recent matchups.
The men’s basketball team will play two home games at the Provident Credit Union Event Center. The Spartans are set to face Boise State on Tuesday, January 27, and New Mexico on Saturday, January 31. Both games offer ticket promotions and will be available to watch or listen online. Last week, the team lost to Nevada and Wyoming.
The women’s basketball team is scheduled to travel to Idaho for a game against Boise State on Saturday, January 31. In their previous outings, the Spartans secured a win over Nevada but were defeated by San Diego State.
In women’s tennis, San José State will host Dominican (Calif.) at the Spartan Tennis Complex on Friday, January 30. The team started its spring season with a victory against UC Riverside.
Women’s gymnastics will compete at home against Southern Utah and Texas Women’s University on Sunday, February 1. In their last meet against Utah State, the Spartans earned a score of 194.675.
The women’s water polo team is set to play Cal State Monterey Bay at the CSUMB Aquatic Center in Seaside, California, on Saturday, January 31. Last weekend, they participated in the Brigitte Donner Daws Memorial Invitational but lost matches against Fresno State, UC Davis, and California.
The women’s swim and dive team has two events this week: they will compete in the Air Force Invitational in Colorado from Thursday through Saturday before hosting Fresno State for Senior Day at SRAC Pool in San Jose on Saturday. The team previously competed against Stanford.
Men’s golf will participate in the Southwestern Intercollegiate tournament at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village from Monday through Wednesday after finishing sixth out of nineteen teams at their last event in October.
Women’s golf travels to Palos Verdes Estates for the Therese Hession Regional Challenge beginning Sunday, February 1. Their most recent competition was at the Nanea Invitational in Hawaii last October.
