San José State falls to Cal despite six-goal effort from Darcy Spark

Darcy Spark scored six goals for the San José State women’s water polo team in a 22-10 defeat against No. 4 California on Saturday at the Spieker Aquatics Complex in Berkeley. The Spartans, ranked No. 17, now hold a season record of 6-10 overall and 0-4 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) play, while Cal improves to 10-3 overall and 2-1 in conference.

Spark leads her team with a total of 60 goals this season. Other contributors in the match included Rose Jensen, Bridget Cranley, Mackenzy Clark, and Nynke Willemsen, each scoring one goal. On defense, Willemsen and Clark registered two steals apiece, and Cranley added two blocks. Goalkeeper Tatianna Raffin made four saves during the game.

After this loss, San José State continues its search for a first conference win this season.
