San José State University’s women’s gymnastics team finished third at a tri-meet hosted by the Air Force Academy on Friday night, earning a team score of 195.725. The event included teams from Denver and Air Force.
Samantha Macasu and Mikaela Pitts delivered the top performances for the Spartans. Macasu achieved a season-best score of 9.900 on the uneven bars, while Pitts led the vault with a score of 9.850.
The Spartans began their meet on bars, posting a total of 48.950 points, highlighted by Macasu’s routine. Victoria Kisch and Kaviana Jurries both scored 9.800, with Sophie Patterson and Genesis PeBenito each contributing 9.725.
On beam, San José State totaled 48.900 points. Marissa Ashton and Patterson each earned a 9.825 to lead the squad in this rotation.
Jurries posted the highest floor exercise score for San José State with a 9.825 as the team collected a total of 48.875 in that event.
The Spartans concluded their night on vault, achieving their highest event score with a combined 49.000 points. Pitts’ performance led the group, followed by Patterson at 9.825 and Valuch at 9.800.
In overall team standings, Denver placed first with a score of 196.725, Air Force was second at 196.425, and San José State finished third.
The next competition for San José State will be a tri-meet against California and Stanford on March 13 in the Bay Area, starting at 7:30 p.m.
