The San José State men’s basketball team is set to host New Mexico on Saturday at the Provident Credit Union Event Center, with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time. The event, presented by El Camino Health, will feature Kids Day promotions and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network. Fans can also listen to the game on KTRB 860 AM.

The Spartans are offering a special ticket promotion for the game, allowing fans to buy two tickets and get two additional tickets free, resulting in a $50 savings. Food and beverage specials will be available during the event, including $2 hot dogs, $2 Pepsi products, and $5 beers.

Last season, San José State went 1-2 against New Mexico. “The Spartans won at the PCUEC on a last second go ahead shot. New Mexico would take the games at The Pit and in the MW Tournament Quarterfinals.” In their first meeting this season at The Pit, SJSU lost to New Mexico 88-65, with Colby Garland scoring 27 points in that contest.

San José State most recently lost to Boise State 89-56 but was only behind by three points at halftime. Garland has returned from a four-game injury absence and has come off the bench in his previous two appearances as he works back into form.

Garland is averaging 17.9 points per game this season, placing him second in scoring within the Mountain West Conference and ranking him 92nd nationally. He set a new school record for consecutive free throws made with 37—surpassing Carroll Williams’ mark of 31 from 1955—and has scored at least ten points in fifteen out of seventeen games this year. He reached or exceeded twenty points eight times and scored thirty or more twice; he is also fourth in field goal percentage within the conference.

Yaphet Moundi is contributing an average of 12.5 points and leads SJSU with seven-point-six rebounds per game so far this season. Moundi has recorded five double-doubles—the most by any Spartan since Michael Steadman’s eleven during the 2018-19 campaign.

Freshman Ben Roseborough averages twelve points per game; no Spartan freshman has averaged over ten points since Keith Fisher did so in the 2017-18 season.

Melvin Bell Jr., another freshman contributor, averages twelve-and-a-half points per game during conference play—a mark that ranks fifteenth among all players in Mountain West action—and recently scored a career-high twenty-two against UNLV.

Adrian Myers leads San José State with twelve blocks this season—including three against SDSU—and is shooting fifty percent from beyond the arc across his last four games.

Jermaine Washington leads SJSU in three-pointers made per game (2.3), fifth-best in conference play; he also ranks second overall among Mountain West players for minutes played per game while improving his averages to eleven-point-six points and two-point-nine assists compared to last year’s numbers.

Pasha Goodarzi contributes one-point-eight threes per conference outing—ranking tenth-best among Mountain West players.
