San José State University’s men’s basketball team will recognize seniors Yaphet Moundi and Sadraque NgaNga during its final home game of the regular season against Wyoming. The matchup is scheduled for Saturday at 2:00 p.m. PT at the Provident Credit Union Event Center. Fans can watch the game on Mountain West Network or listen on KTRB 860 AM.

The Spartans, with a record of 8-22 overall and 3-16 in Mountain West play, are coming off an 82-68 defeat to Fresno State. Earlier this season, San José State lost to Wyoming 66-62 after a late goaltending call allowed the Cowboys to take the lead. The Spartans were unable to score in the closing seconds.

Last year, San José State won all three meetings against Wyoming, including a 66-61 victory in the first round of the Mountain West Tournament.

This season, San José State ranks 72nd nationally in three-point shooting percentage at .360 and averages 10.3 turnovers per game, which is second fewest in the Mountain West and ranks 57th nationally. Over the past three seasons, eight different players have scored at least 30 points in a single game for the Spartans.

San José State has secured the No. 11 seed for the upcoming Mountain West Tournament and will face the sixth seed.

Colby Garland was named Mountain West Player of the Week on February 23, marking the first time a Spartan has received this honor since Omari Moore in February 2023. “In his POTW campaign, Garland led the Spartans to a 1-1 record, including a 16 point win over Nevada. Garland averaged 25.5 points, seven assists and 2.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 55.9 percent (19-for-34) from the field and 44.4 percent (4-of-9) from long range,” according to team officials.

Garland currently averages 20.1 points per game, ranking second in the conference and among the top thirty nationwide. He has scored at least twenty points in nine consecutive games—the longest such streak for San José State since Olivier Saint-Jean’s fourteen-game run during the 1996–97 season—and has reached double figures in all but two games this year.

Additionally, Garland is fourth in field goal percentage within conference play and ranks third both in assists per game and assist-to-turnover ratio. His average of 4.6 assists per contest is also notable for leading conference play.

Adrian Myers set a career high with thirty-four points on eleven-of-eighteen shooting—including eight-of-nine from beyond the arc—against Air Force earlier this season. His eight made three-pointers tied San José State’s single-game record; he achieved this mark with fewer attempts than previous record holders Trey Smith and Noah Baumann.

Myers has averaged nearly twenty points and over eight rebounds across his last six outings while leading his team with eighteen blocks this season.

Melvin Bell Jr. remains unique as he is currently the only Spartan to have appeared in every game this year.

Jermaine Washington contributes an average of more than two made three-pointers per contest.
