San José State University’s Ahmiya Noriega has been named to the 2026 Mountain West Softball Preseason Team, according to an announcement from the conference office in Colorado Springs.
This marks the second year in a row that a San José State Spartans player has earned preseason honors from the Mountain West Conference, highlighting the program’s increasing profile within the league.
Noriega’s selection comes after a strong performance during the 2025 season. She was recognized as part of the All-Mountain West First Team and started all 50 games for San José State. During that season, she tied for first in the nation with 10 triples and achieved a .352 batting average with a .967 OPS. Noriega also collected 56 hits, including eight doubles and two home runs, produced 26 RBIs, and drew 11 walks.
Her other achievements include being named to the NFCA D1 Third Team All-Region (West) in 2025. She was one of only two players on her team to start every game that season. Notable individual performances included going three-for-three against Cal Poly and four-for-four against New Mexico. Noriega set career highs across several categories except for home runs, which she matched with two. She led her team in batting average (.352), hits (56), triples (10), and tied for most runs scored (31). To close out her season, she maintained a seven-game hitting streak from April 23 to May 3.
“Ahmiya Noriega, INF, Sr., San Jose, Calif./Silver Creek HS” was listed among her credentials by San José State University.
