San José State University’s women’s basketball team will play its final regular season game on Tuesday night against Colorado State at the Provident Credit Union Event Center in San Jose. The matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network, with Daniel Barrera providing play-by-play commentary.
The Spartans currently hold a 4-26 overall record and are 2-17 in Mountain West Conference play. They are seeking to end a three-game losing streak after their recent defeat at Grand Canyon University, where they lost 65-52. Before the game, seniors Katarina Anderson, McKenna Simons, and Amira Brown will be recognized for their contributions to the program.
Colorado State enters the contest with a 23-7 overall record and a 14-5 mark in conference games. The Rams are tied for second place in the Mountain West standings alongside Boise State and UNLV. They are on a five-game winning streak following their win over Air Force, 66-52, last Saturday. Ryun Williams is serving his 14th season as head coach at Colorado State and has been a head coach for 28 years.
The historical series between San José State and Colorado State dates back to the 1983-84 season, with Colorado State leading 24-7. The Spartans’ most recent victory over the Rams was on March 2, 2024, when they won by an 18-point margin after outscoring Colorado State in the third quarter.
Depending on Tuesday’s results and other conference outcomes, San José State will enter next week’s Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship as either the No. 11 or No. 12 seed. If San José State wins and Utah State loses, they will secure the No. 11 seed; otherwise, they will be seeded twelfth.
Last Saturday’s game saw Allie Cummins achieve a career-high of 24 points while making all eight of her free throw attempts and converting four of eleven shots from beyond the arc.
As of March 1, San José State ranks within the top-100 nationally in several statistical categories: blocks per game (65th), three-point attempts per game (31st), Maya Anderson’s field goal attempts (39th), and Gabriela Pato’s blocked shots (97th).
Following Tuesday’s matchup, San José State will begin tournament play at the Thomas & Mack Center starting March 7.
