San José State University’s women’s swimming and diving team marked Senior Day with several notable performances during their meet against Fresno State at the SRAC in San Jose on Saturday.
Ela Freiman achieved a career milestone by winning the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:58.47, which is the second-fastest performance in school history for that event. Stephanie Sifferman secured victory in the 200 freestyle, finishing in 1:49.66 and tying for the 11th fastest time recorded at San José State.
Genevieve George won the 200 backstroke with her season-best time of 1:57.54, maintaining her position as having the third-fastest mark for that race in program records. Ava Bautista also improved her personal best in the 100 butterfly to 54.20 seconds, placing fifth on San José State’s all-time list after winning her event.
The Spartans’ relay team—composed of Lais e Silva, Lillie Grover, Nikki Lahey, and Dalton Sickon—finished strong by taking first place in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:32.80.
Before competition began, five seniors were recognized for their contributions to the program: Mya Azzopardi, Luna Balbuena, Andreea Dragoi, Lais e Silva, and Ela Freiman.
