San José State women’s swimming wins dual meet at Cal State East Bay

San José State University’s women’s swimming and diving team won 11 races in a dual meet against Cal State East Bay on Friday in Hayward, California. The Spartans secured a 169-87 victory, with Vilma Lindberg winning both the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke events.

Other individual race winners for San José State included Stephanie Sifferman in the 200 freestyle, Lais e Silva in the 50 freestyle, and Dalton Sickon in the 100 freestyle. Hannah Ernst took first place in the 100 backstroke, while Genevieve George won the 200 backstroke. Lillie Grover finished first in the 100 butterfly, and Ela Freiman claimed victory in the 200 individual medley.

The Spartans also placed first and second in both relay events: the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.

After the meet, head coach Sage Hopkins commented, “We had a solid meet today. Had a little rust to shake off.”

The team will compete next at Stanford University on Saturday, January 24 at noon.
