The San José State women’s tennis team announced on March 16 that it will play three matches this week at the Spartan Tennis Complex, starting with Rhode Island on Wednesday, followed by Air Force on Friday and New Mexico on Sunday. All matches are scheduled to begin at noon.

This series of games comes after the Spartans began conference play last week, where they lost to Grand Canyon University 5-0 and San Diego State 4-0. The upcoming match against Rhode Island will be the first time the Spartans face the Rams.

In previous meetings with Air Force, San José State has won their last three encounters. Last season, Emma Fantousis and Soledad Fayos Capilla contributed doubles victories, while Fayos Capilla also secured a singles win. Against New Mexico in their most recent matchup, the Spartans achieved a sweep with singles and doubles wins from Fantousis, Fayos Capilla, and Duru Durgun.

Individually, Durgun holds a 5-3 record in singles dual play from court one. Cristina Mateos Losada is 5-2 in singles dual play from court six, while freshman Camila Celis has posted a 6-4 record from court five.

The upcoming matches provide an opportunity for the Spartans to improve their conference record and build momentum as they continue through the season.
