Innovation: 1 patent granted in Culver City in week ending Aug. 8

There was one patent granted in Culver City in the week ending Aug. 8, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is two less than the week before. The patent was for a systems and methods for using multispectral imagery for precise tracking and verification.

The patent was filed on Dec. 22, 2020

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
