Patent office approves 10 patents for Santa Monica innovators in week ending Aug. 8

Patent 9

There were 10 patents granted in Santa Monica in the week ending Aug. 8, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is four more than the week before. Patents included a dynamic multi-content delivery network selection during video playback.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending Aug. 8 belonged to Ring, Inc. who filed in Feb. 26, 2018.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
