WASHINGTON, DC – On May 30, U.S. Representative Zoe Lofgren announced that the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) will be providing $185,000 to six local art projects, including for musical theater and dance productions, folk and traditional arts, artist education, media arts, and a museum exhibition.
“San Jose is known for its rich and vibrant arts scene, and this funding will allow our community to lead the way as a hub for art and cultural diversity. I look forward to seeing these six projects move from ideas to exhibitions and presentations,” said Rep. Lofgren.
Rep. Lofgren announced the following:
- $60,000 for the San Jose Museum of Art Association for a presentation of "Yolanda López: Portrait of the Artist.”
- $30,000 for the City of San Jose for an artist-led community engagement program.
- $30,000 for Teatro Vision for the theater’s production of “La Muerte Baila.”
- $25,000 for San Jose Children’s Musical Theater for a production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
- $20,000 for San Jose Community Media Access Corporation for the DocuMentorMe program.
- $20,000 for the Taiko Community Alliance for the North American Taiko Conference.
The funding comes from Fiscal Year 2023 funding legislation that Rep. Lofgren voted for in December.
