San José, Apr 17, 2024 - The City of San José Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) Department is set to activate the largest park in San José for a day with the Viva CalleSJ event. According to Ed Bautista, Communications Manager for PRNS, the Viva CalleSJ route spans approximately six miles, starting from the SoFA District and ending at Martial Cottle Park.
In an effort to celebrate Earth Month and promote sustainable fun, Bautista stated that PRNS will host a tree planting event at Martial Cottle Park hub site and offer conservation-focused resources along the route. The event is designed to encourage exploration of City neighborhoods by allowing only non-motorized transportation and providing activity hubs with food trucks, live music, and family-friendly activities.
Bautista highlighted the significance of Viva CalleSJ in promoting social integration, reducing carbon emissions, and encouraging physical fitness. He emphasized that the event aligns with the ActivateSJ guiding principle of public life by fostering community connections and creating lasting memories for residents.
For those interested in participating or learning more about Viva CalleSJ, further information can be found on the event's website at www.vivacallesj.org. Participants are encouraged to follow and tag @VivaCalleSJ and use the hashtag #VivaCalleSJ on social media for updates and engagement.
