San José Approves Children and Youth Services Master Plan for a Brighter Future

SAN JOSE, Calif. (April 24, 2024) – The City Council of San José has recently approved the San José Children and Youth Services (CYS) Master Plan, aimed at creating opportunity pathways for children, youth, and young adults in the city. The approval of this plan signifies a significant step towards a more equitable and prosperous future for all residents.

Mayor Matt Mahan expressed the importance of this plan, stating, "Empowering our children to achieve their full potential is the greatest gift we can give ourselves and future generations." The Children and Youth Services Master Plan is designed to ensure that youth from all corners of San José have the support they need to thrive.

City Manager Jennifer Maguire highlighted the impact of the plan on the community, saying, “The Children and Youth Services Master Plan will help meet our Council Service Area of Community and Economic Development by improving outcomes for our city’s children, youth and young adults.” Maguire, a working mother of three, emphasized the significance of providing children and youth with the necessary tools and resources to reach their full potential.

The development of the CYS Master Plan involved collaboration with various city departments, community organizations, and public input. Over 3,000 community members and 120 organizations participated in the feedback and data collection process, which informed the priorities and outcomes of the plan.

The City of San José, known for its innovation and diversity, continues to strive towards a brighter future for its residents. The implementation of the Children and Youth Services Master Plan reflects the city's commitment to fostering a supportive environment for the growth and development of its youth.
