Jake Pisani, Public Information Manager for the San José Fire Department (SJFD), announced a press conference regarding Fourth of July fireworks. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at the Cypress Pavilion in Lake Cunningham Park, located at 2305 S. White Rd., San José, CA.

San José Mayor Matt Mahan, Councilmember Domingo Candelas, and San José Fire Chief Robert Sapien Jr. will attend the press conference. The City of San José and its community partners are organizing free professional fireworks shows at Lake Cunningham Park and Almaden Lake Park to celebrate Independence Day.

The ninth annual Fourth of July Fireworks Festival at Almaden Lake Park is hosted by the Almaden Valley Women’s Club, Rotary Club of Almaden-Willow Glen, and District 10 Councilmember Arjun Batra's office. The festival starts at 3 p.m., featuring live music, food trucks, and a fun zone before culminating in a fireworks display at 9:15 p.m.

Councilmember Domingo Candelas' office is hosting the first-ever fireworks show at Lake Cunningham Park. Activities begin at 7 p.m., with food trucks and various activities leading up to the fireworks show at 9 p.m.

City officials will provide details about these family-friendly events while also emphasizing the dangers of illegal fireworks. Representatives from the San José Police Department (SJPD), Parks, Recreation & Neighborhood Services (PRNS), San José 311, and other departments will be present to discuss safety measures and encourage residents to report illegal firework use online.

The City of San José urges residents to leave fireworks displays to professionals due to the risks associated with illegal fireworks, including personal injuries and preventable fires that cause significant property damage and environmental harm.
