The City of San José has announced the opening of cooling centers from Tuesday, July 2 through Saturday, July 6, in response to an Excessive Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service. The designated cooling centers will operate beyond regular business hours to provide relief from high temperatures.

The locations for the cooling centers are as follows:

- 3369 Union Ave., San José, 95124

- Emma Prusch Farm Park, 647 S. King Rd., San José, 95116

- Roosevelt Community Center (Pet-Friendly from 1-9 p.m.), 901 E. Santa Clara St., San José, 95116

Residents visiting these centers will have access to bottled water, free Wi-Fi, and charging outlets for their devices. Large belongings such as bicycles must be left outside.

Roosevelt Community Center is designated as pet-friendly during this period and allows dogs and cats from 1 to 9 p.m. Pets must adhere to specific guidelines: dogs must be leashed at all times, and cats must be in crates or harnesses if trained. Unrestrained pets are not permitted. Aggressive or disruptive pets will be required to leave the center.

Pet owners are responsible for their pets' needs including food, water, and supplies. Designated pet relief areas will be available and owners must clean up after their pets.

All community centers and libraries in San José remain open during regular business hours for residents seeking a cool place. For a list of community centers visit bit.ly/sjcommunitycenters and for libraries visit www.sjpl.org/locations.
