Rep. Zoe Lofgren, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 18th district, has recently shared her views and updates on social media regarding various issues and developments in her constituency. Lofgren, who has been serving since 1995 after succeeding Don Edwards, took to Twitter to address concerns about detention centers, federal funding for renewable energy projects, and new opportunities for local farmers.

On December 4, 2024, Rep. Zoe Lofgren highlighted ongoing issues at the Mesa Verde and Golden State ICE detention centers. She stated: "For too long, the Mesa Verde & Golden State ICE detention centers have reportedly subjected detainees to disturbing living conditions & inadequate care. My colleagues & I continue to urgently call on @DHSgov to end contracts with these private facilities & close them."

Two days later, on December 6, 2024, Lofgren announced positive news concerning federal support for renewable energy initiatives in Salinas. She tweeted: "Good News: The @USDA_ARS’s Sam Farr Crop Improvement & Protection Research Center in Salinas is receiving $200K in federal funding for a solar energy system."

Later that day, she encouraged agricultural stakeholders in her district to explore new funding opportunities from the USDA aimed at specialty crop growers. Her message read: "The 18th Congressional District is home to a thriving agricultural industry, & @USDA recently announced a new funding opportunity to help specialty crop growers. I encourage farmers & producers to take a look."
