Zoe Lofgren, a U.S. Congress representative for California's 18th district, has voiced her concerns over recent budgetary decisions and legislative proposals via social media. Lofgren, who has been serving in Congress since 1995 after succeeding Don Edwards, addressed key issues surrounding government funding and healthcare provisions.

On March 11, 2025, Lofgren criticized the Republican party's budget plan, stating that it involved significant cuts to Medicaid and nutrition programs to finance tax benefits for billionaires. She noted that Republicans had abandoned bipartisan negotiations on government funding and introduced a partisan bill that would reduce funding for veterans' benefits. "Just weeks ago, Republicans voted for a budget that requires Medicaid & nutrition cuts to pay for tax handouts for billionaires. Now, after walking away from bipartisan gov funding negotiations, they offer a partisan bill that slashes $$ for veterans’ benefits, affordable…"

Two days later, on March 13, 2025, Lofgren expressed support for House Democrats' efforts to secure a four-week extension of government funding. She emphasized the importance of this measure in preventing detrimental cuts and ensuring the government remains operational while striving towards a bipartisan agreement. "House Democrats stand united for a four-week funding extension that stops harmful cuts, keeps the government open, & allows Congress to reach a true bipartisan funding agreement. I am ready to vote today, tomorrow, or Friday to pass a bipartisan extension."

Later on March 13th, Lofgren questioned why Senate Democrats would support what she described as the partisan Republican Continuing Resolution (CR), which she argued would defund veterans' healthcare under the PACT Act. She called for stronger leadership within her party in response to these developments. "Why would Senate Democrats vote for the partisan Republican CR & defund veterans’ health care (PACT Act)? We need some spine & leadership!"
