Ivan Barahona, Avinash Iyer, and Keshav “KC” Mungali will represent San José State University as individuals at the 2026 NCAA Men’s Golf Corvallis Regional, which will take place from May 18-20 at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Oregon.
This marks the first time in school history that three Spartans have qualified for an NCAA Regional as individuals in the same season. The achievement also represents a return to postseason play for San José State’s men’s golf program; Barahona, Iyer, and Mungali are the first individual qualifiers since Caleb Shetler participated in the 2023 NCAA Morgan Hill Regional.
The trio faces a competitive field on a par-71 course measuring 7,384 yards. Each golfer has contributed significantly to their team’s success this season. Barahona finished third on the team with a scoring average of 70.58 over 33 rounds and recorded his best round of the season with a score of 65 at The Western Intercollegiate. He also tied for fourth place at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate after shooting rounds of 67-67-70.
Iyer led all Spartans with a scoring average of 69.82 over 33 rounds and earned All-Mountain West Men’s Golf Team honors for the 2025-26 season. His career-best finish was a tie for third place after shooting a combined score of 68-71-64 at The Goodwin tournament.
Mungali also received All-Mountain West recognition and posted a scoring average of 70.42 across his matches this year. He shot six under par at the Mountain West Championship to finish tied for nineteenth and secured second place overall at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate with scores of 64-68-65.
As these three athletes prepare to compete individually against top collegiate golfers from across the country, their performances will determine whether they advance to further postseason play.
