Kaviana Jurries, Sophie Patterson, and Genesis PeBenito from San José State University have received weekly honors from the Mountain West Conference following their performances in a recent tri-meet.

Jurries and Patterson were both named Vault Specialist of the Week after tying for first place on vault with scores of 9.850. This marks Jurries’ third consecutive vault title, while Patterson secured her first collegiate vault title. Both gymnasts are currently ranked second in the Mountain West on vault.

Genesis PeBenito earned two distinctions: Beam Specialist of the Week and Freshman of the Week. She won the beam event with a season-high score of 9.900, which is only the 28th time in school history that a gymnast has achieved that mark on beam. It was also her first collegiate event title, and she ranks second in the conference on beam with an average score of 9.800.

The Spartans will compete next at Boise State this Friday in a quad meet against Boise State, Oregon State, and UC Davis. The team will return home for a dual meet with Utah State on Sunday, February 15.
