Zoe Lofgren, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 18th District since 1995, utilized social media to reiterate her commitment to significant legislative issues. In a series of tweets made on April 29 and 30, 2025, Lofgren touched on topics ranging from anti-discrimination legislation to environmental policy and historical commemoration.

On April 29, 2025, Lofgren expressed her support for the Equality Act, stating, “I believe we must ‘live & let live.’ That is why I joined my CEC colleagues in reintroducing the Equality Act. The Equality Act sets the same standard for everyone, regardless of who they love or how they identify.” Her statement underscores her advocacy for equal rights irrespective of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Later that day, Lofgren voiced her opposition on the House Floor to three Republican bills. She stated, “Today, I spoke on the House Floor to oppose three Republican bills that would invalidate California’s ability to limit air pollution from vehicles. We must prioritize our children’s & our environment’s health over partisan, ideological agendas.” This remarks Lofgren’s dedication to environmental conservation and prioritizing public health over partisan politics.

On April 30, 2025, Lofgren highlighted a historical commemoration, noting, “Today marks the 50th Anniversary of Black April & the Fall of Saigon. I join my Vietnam Caucus Co-Chairs in introducing a Resolution reaffirming our commitment to upholding the values of democracy, human rights, & freedom for all people.” The tweet coincides with a commemorative resolution supporting democratic values and human rights in connection with the Vietnam War.

Zoe Lofgren, a Stanford University graduate, was born in San Mateo, California, and resides in San Jose. Before her tenure in Congress, starting in 1995 following the footsteps of Don Edwards, she served on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors from 1981 to 1994.
