Rep. Zoe Lofgren, who has represented California’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress since 1995, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing issues related to veterans’ affairs, foreign policy, and housing challenges in California.

On March 16, 2026, Lofgren wrote about her meeting with leaders from the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW): “I recently had a great discussion with VFW leaders to discuss their legislative priorities. Congress has an obligation to ensure veterans receive education and employment assistance after leaving military service and that they get timely access to high-quality healthcare.”

The following day, March 17, she commented on recent resignations within the Trump administration over its military actions in Iran: “Even Trump’s own appointees are now resigning in protest over his illegal war with Iran. It’s a war that’s costing Americans dearly, and Congress needs to rein this in before we get stuck in another endless war.”

Later on March 17, Lofgren highlighted her discussions with California realtors regarding barriers to homeownership: “This morning, I met with California realtors to discuss some of the biggest obstacles to homeownership for our state. In Congress, I’m focused on solutions that will boost our housing supply, lower home insurance costs, and ease the burden on first-time buyers.”

Lofgren has served as the congressional representative for California’s 18th district since replacing Don Edwards in 1995. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors from 1981 to 1994. Born in San Mateo in 1947 and currently residing in San Jose, Lofgren earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and her law degree from Santa Clara University.
