U.S. Representative Zoe Lofgren, who has represented California’s 18th district since 1995, commented on recent congressional developments and hearings in a series of posts on December 18, 2025.
In one post from the early morning, Lofgren described her impressions after observing Special Counsel Jack Smith testify before Congress regarding the prosecution of former President Donald Trump. She wrote, “What I saw today was a composed Jack Smith explaining his logical, evidence-based decisions to prosecute Trump for his election subversion attempts. House Republicans’ smears fell flat.” (December 18, 2025).
Later that day, Lofgren addressed ongoing legislative efforts related to healthcare policy. She stated, “A majority of the House has now signed a discharge petition to extend the ACA tax credits and save healthcare for millions of Americans. So why is Speaker Johnson dragging his feet? He should call the vote immediately and not send Congress home until we get this done.” (December 18, 2025).
She also shared an invitation for further viewing: “Watch the full interview here: https://t.co/FHww3csJ2G” (December 18, 2025).
Lofgren has been active in national politics for several decades. Before her tenure in Congress began in 1995—succeeding Don Edwards—she served on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors from 1981 to 1994. Born in San Mateo in 1947 and currently residing in San Jose at age 75, Lofgren holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Santa Clara University School of Law (JD). Her background reflects longstanding engagement with public service and legislative matters.
