Representative Zoe Lofgren, who has served California’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress since 1995, recently shared updates on her office and legislative concerns through a series of posts on social media.
On December 18, 2025, Lofgren acknowledged the contributions of her interns despite disruptions caused by a government shutdown. She wrote, “Today is the last day for this class of interns in my DC office. While their time was shortened by the shutdown, they provided a tremendous service to #CA18, and I’m thankful to Mateo, Madison, and Adrien for their hard work.”
Later that same day, she criticized House Republicans’ decision regarding legislative scheduling. In her post dated December 18, 2025, she stated: “House Republicans canceled votes tomorrow and are going on vacation without extending ACA tax credits, despite a majority of the House supporting this. What an outrage.”
On December 19, 2025, Lofgren commented on economic conditions under Republican leadership: “The American people know this is not an A+++++ economy. It’s a failure by Trump and the Republican Congress.”
Lofgren has represented California’s 18th district since succeeding Don Edwards in 1995. Before joining Congress, she served on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors from 1981 to 1994. Born in San Mateo in 1947 and currently residing in San Jose at age 75, Lofgren holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
