Nominations are now being accepted for the 2024 Cornerstone of the Arts Awards, as announced by Carlos Velazquez, Public Information Manager at the Office of Economic Development & Cultural Affairs. The deadline for submitting nominations is Friday, May 3, 2024, by 5:00 p.m.

Established in September 2013, the Cornerstone of the Arts Awards aims to recognize individuals and programs that have made a significant and enduring impact on San José’s art and cultural scene. Spearheaded by the City of San José’s Arts Commission and the Office of Cultural Affairs, these awards celebrate contributions to the city's cultural landscape.

For the upcoming 2024 awards, a new category has been introduced: the Luminary Artist Award. This category seeks to honor individuals who have demonstrated effective leadership or support, leading to the enhancement of San José’s arts community and the overall quality of life for its residents.

Additionally, the awards will acknowledge cultural or artistic projects, programs, or events that have had a notable influence on the local community. Furthermore, a specific category will recognize an established, professional artist with a substantial body of work that reflects excellence and contributes to San José’s cultural vibrancy.

Those interested in submitting nominations or learning more about the award nomination guidelines can visit the Office of Cultural Affairs’ Cornerstone of the Arts page.
