Santa Clara County’s 558 coaches earned an average salary of $89,132 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the seventh highest average salary per county earned by coaches at California post-secondary schools during 2022.

Santa Clara County is home to 10 post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Stanford University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $461,162.

Male coaches of men's teams received $272,167 on average in Santa Clara County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $114,470.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
