Grant Elementary School was commended for their successful hosting of Walk n’ Roll Day with two walking school buses. National Bike and Roll to School Day is set for May 8, 2024, encouraging students to actively commute and promote exercise while reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality. The event aims to inspire students of all ages to bike or roll to school, fostering environmental consciousness and physical activity.
Schools were invited to participate in the Santa Clara County Bike Rack Decorating Contest to celebrate Bike to School Day on May 8. The contest involves decorating school bike racks, with the winning school receiving the Golden Bike Award and bragging rights until the next competition.
Participants were reminded of important bike safety tips, including checking air, brakes, and chain before riding, as well as the significance of wearing helmets to reduce the risk of head injuries.
