Applications are now open for SJ PLACES, a pilot program designed to eliminate fees and simplify applications for small-scale public events in Downtown San José. The initiative is available for events scheduled from now through October 31, 2024.

Carlos Velazquez, Public Information Manager at the Office of Economic Development & Cultural Affairs, stated that city staff, partner non-profit organizations, and service providers will be present at the event to share resources with small business owners.

In addition to waiving permit fees, the program offers expedited processes including a simplified reservation form and a reduced approval timeline from 45 days to 21 days.
