SAN JOSE, Calif. – Two free professional fireworks shows will light up the skies in San José this Fourth of July. The shows will take place at Almaden Lake Park and Discovery Meadow tomorrow night.

The eighth-annual Fourth of July Fireworks Festival at Almaden Lake Park, hosted by District 10, will feature a family-friendly fun zone, live entertainment, and more than a half-dozen food trucks. Limited parking is available at Valley Water, but public transportation or rideshares are encouraged. The event starts at 3 p.m., with fireworks scheduled to begin at 9:15 p.m.

The fireworks spectacular at Discovery Meadow, hosted by the Rotary Club of San José, will feature live music beginning at 6 p.m. leading up to the fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. Nearby parking structures will be available, although street lots will be closed for safety reasons. Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) will also have extra trains running from Santa Teresa (Blue Line) and Campbell (Green Line) to the Children’s Discovery Meadow stop.

A press conference was held last Thursday to share details about the City’s two free professional fireworks shows and critical information on the dangers of illegal fireworks and how to report violators online by using San José 311. Press conference speakers included Mayor Matt Mahan, District 3 Councilmember Omar Torres, Fire Chief Robert Sapien, Jr., and Carl Salas, former President of the Rotary Club of San José. With temperatures on the rise, so is the risk of wildfires. The San José Fire Department warns against the use of illegal fireworks to mitigate preventable damage to life, property, and the environment. For more information about illegal fireworks, visit www.sanjoseca.gov/fireworks
