SAN JOSE, Calif. (Apr. 11, 2024) – Reporting vehicle concerns through San José 311 is now easier and more efficient with the launch of new features and tools called Vehicle Concerns, previously known as Abandoned Vehicles. These enhancements allow the public to report various issues related to vehicles anonymously, such as non-operational vehicles on public streets, cars parked for extended periods, and vehicles with expired registrations, among others.

City Manager Jennifer Maguire expressed gratitude for the collaborative effort of various city departments in implementing these improvements, stating, "The addition of these new features will help meet our Council Focus Area of cleaning up our neighborhoods." The system automatically directs reported concerns to the appropriate department for prompt action, streamlining the vehicle tagging and removal process.

Mayor Matt Mahan highlighted the innovative nature of San José's services, stating, “In the capitol of Silicon Valley, we’re always innovating — and our San José 311 service is no different.” The new Vehicle Concerns features aim to empower residents in contributing to a safe and clean environment in the city.

Residents, workers, and visitors are encouraged to utilize the updated San José 311 app or website to report vehicle concerns conveniently. Spanish and Vietnamese language updates for the Vehicle Concerns feature are on the horizon, catering to a more diverse population. Additionally, individuals can report non-emergency concerns by dialing 3-1-1 within city limits.

San José, with its nearly one million residents, stands as one of the most diverse large cities in the United States and a hub of technological innovation in Northern California. The city's Information Technology Department plays a crucial role in enhancing city services through innovation and collaboration across departments, striving to enrich the quality of life for San José residents.
